Guitar Ensemble

We are excited to announce the return of Guitar Ensemble in the spring of 2018! Students ages 8-12 are encouraged to enroll.

During the classes students will focus on ensemble playing, rhythm, dynamics, good tone, and creativity. This is a great way to augment private lessons and give your children the opportunity to make music with their peers. The classes will culminate in a final performance at the summer recital on June 10th at City Winery!

All sheet music will be provided. There will be no make-up classes, but we are happy to adjust invoices prior to payment if you will be absent. In order to perform in the summer recital, students must attend at least 10 of the 12 classes. The Guitar Ensemble is directed by Alex Gordon and limited to 8 students.

March 11 – June 3 (No class May 27)

Sundays from 1:30-2:20 pm

Tuition is $25 per class. To register, either signup in our online portal or send us an email. Tuition will be pro-rated and added to your monthly invoice.

Summer Recital Recap

Thank you all for attending and participating in our Summer Recital. We had standing room only at the Red Light Cafe and a very supportive audience. I am continually impressed by the poise and stage presence of our performers, many of whom have never been on a stage before! Our recital included nursery rhymes, complicated pieces with shifting time signatures, ensemble pieces, duets, well known covers and original songs. Thank you again to the Red Light Cafe for hosting and to Cindy Wnek for her photography. It has been such a joy to see our school come together and perform an entire night of music. No matter how big or small, I believe that there is much to be learned from each performance opportunity. So keep learning, keep shedding and keep performing!

Summer Recital – Sunday, June 11

Join us for our 2nd annual Summer Recital at the Red Light Cafe! Featuring Guitar Shed students of all ages playing a wide variety of instruments and styles. Music begins at 5 pm with our youngest students performing first.

5 pm – Kids Set
7 pm – Teens and Adults Set

Free Raffle during setbreak!

$5 at the door for non-performers

Guitar Ensemble will perform at the end of the Kids Set and our Adult Band will perform at the end of the Teens and Adults Set. RSVP here.

Adult Band – Starting November 1st

Rehearsals for our first adult band will begin on Tuesday, November 1st. Brandon Marsolo will be playing drums and coaching the ensemble. The group will focus on rock and blues techniques. Brandon has plenty of experience in leading rehearsals and will be able to provide expert instruction on individual and group performance. This is something I think that has been missing at the Shed and there is a lot to be learned from playing in a group setting. 

You are welcome to use our equipment at the Shed or bring your own. The cost will be $30 per 90 min rehearsal from 8:00-9:30. The rehearsals will culminate in a final performance at our recital on December 18. Tuition will be pro-rated and added to your monthly invoice. There will be no make-up classes, but we are happy to adjust invoices prior to payment if you will be absent. You can sign up online through our student portal or email us directly if you are interested. Limited to 6 students.

Winter Recital – December 18

It’s almost that time of year again! I know it’s only September, but we’re already gearing up for our 2nd annual Winter Recital. The date is set for Sunday, December 18 at The Red Light Cafe at 7 pm. So mark your calendars and be thinking of what songs you would like to play!

For those of you that have not participated in a recital yet, we will have an adult set and a kids set. All students have the opportunity to perform solo or with teacher accompaniment. Feel free to play some festive tunes and wear some festive gear, after all it is the most wonderful time of the year!
